Bluebell Community Garden, Padiham (in partnership with Calico)
St. John’s resident Group have identified 2 pieces of land, which are neglected, in an area which is predominantly tenanted by elderly residents some of whom are housebound. The idea is to turn these into a low maintenance garden/patio area where tenants can meet during better weather to help prevent social isolation or where those who can’t get out can enjoy the blooms! Total grant £1841.
Fraser Street, Burnley (in partnership with Calico)
This is a well-attended youth group. The growth and continued success of the club means it is open five days a week and has over 300 young members who attend on a regular basis. The funds requested will help repair the roof and redecorate the exterior, install additional WC facilities, comply with DDA requirements, install a community kitchen and redesign and repair interiors so that they can provide a music room, computer room, dance studio and appealing flexible space for future activities. Total grant £7,000.
